The Giver (The Giver Quartet #1)
The book I’m reviewing is called The Giver. It is the first in it’s quartet, and is thrilling, intriguing and very creative. It was written in 1993 by Lois Lowry and is a young-adult fiction dystopian novel. The book is based on a boy called Jonas who lives in world where everything is the same. No pain, emotions or colours. Jonas is later chosen as what’s called a “Receiver.” He is to hold all the memories, experiences and pains of the past. He later becomes attached to a new-born child that experiences sleeping troubles, and may have to be “released.” Jonas can’t let this happen, and fights to keep this child alive. With his knowledge of the past, he escapes the community with the baby, but they are faced with many more challenges…
I’d rate this book 4 and a half out of 5. Thank you for reading this review, and I hope you’re now inspired to read the book!
